Newpost: An MOU With My Bed

I gotta make a make bed pact with myself…

Now today I woke up a disgruntled bed user. The last I remember I tucked into a nicely, neat bed only to wake up with a bed that looks like tsunami had nyemelead. I am one person who gets pretty tired making beds simply because I don’t understand why it has to hold me hostage. Drive me down the guilty trip… like “if you don’t make me, I will embarrass you and you will never hear the end of it… leaving me untidy after rolling and tossing”. Monologue at its best. Gosh!!! Don’t get it twisted, I love me a cozy, squashy bed. I love rolling in my bed…

You know, I think we should have a pact with the bed. You know the way we have mama wa kufua nguo, I think we should also have a mama wakumake bed. Tsst! But seriously, we only need to agree that she just doesn’t touch my shoes, bags and cologne and we shall be fine making beds. The only problem would be having someone visit me every morning to make my bed. Haha, gets complicated as it goes. I remember like yesterday how we used to be forced to make beds in boarding school. Ati if the matron finds folds of whatever kind on your bed you are subjected to punishment. God know the theatrics when trying to ensure that you leave no folds…

Lucky are the ones who have bed mates because you can easily manipulate the other party to make the bed as you make him/her breakfast. You know those agreements you make as housemates… for the singles; it’s you and you nudging bed. The easiest way is to roll up the comforter and cover even those beautiful bed sheets. Who has the time to make all those endearing designs when the alarm cannot stop going. Worse still is the weekend. That is when the bed can hang on the chandelier if it so wishes. You leave your bed with the promise that you shall come back and make it. You know you won’t but to avoid feeling guilty, you comfort yourself that the bed is getting aerated. Haha! It’s a lazy Saturday and all you wanna do is rollup in bed, read a good book and allow the day to just be.

So for me and my bed, until we get a partner, our pact remains. When I can, you know I will spoil you to the heavens but when I can't, please understand. Okay!!!

Your dear user…
